I started Dragon In The Loop because I began seeing how everything is interconnected. My personal identity influences some of the things that I do at my job. What I do with my job influences other people around me. The things I build at my job impact other people I've never met. My identity helps define what I think about the universe around me. All of these things that I impact also reflect back and impact me in various ways.
Because of all these interactions between things, I realized that understanding ourselves can actually be a leverage point to understand and impact everything else. This is something that I want to explore, and share where I can. As such, I want to explore how to practically apply these sorts of lessons.
# Practical Application
As I stated in my [[Philosophy Keystone Brief]], there are three major spaces, Yourself, Visitors, and the Universe. Finding a practical way to apply understanding of each one can be difficult, but is ultimately what I want to explore.
## How To Be Yourself
We are complex beings, with layers, needs, hopes, fears, and dreams. At the same time we are one of the most mysterious things there can be. Being yourself can seem incredibly easy, natural even most of the time, but in many ways most of us don't even know who we are. While there is no way any website, book, or video could explain how to fully understand who you are. My hope is that my own exploration into who I am can help provide some suggestions on how to find out what is [[The Self]].
## How To Interact with Visitors
Each of us is our own complex being. Knowing and understanding who we are can open a window into the possibility of who others are. By framing ourselves we can begin to see how others might frame themselves. We see our differences, and we can see just how similar we all are. My hope is that new ways to understand each other, [[The Visitors]], can come from the explorations done within ourselves.
Additionally, by understanding both ourselves and the other visitors in our lives, we can begin to see how our larger systems might work in unique ways. Businesses, governments, even groups of people create complex systems, but are built upon the understanding of beings just like us. Understanding ourselves can actually provide windows and guidance on how to work with and build more complex social things like business, governments and groups. My hope is that we can find better ways to approach all these things.
## How To Live Within Our Universe
The Universe is a mystery, one we unravel more each day. I definitely won't say that I've solved it, if anything I become more confused by it when I stop to ponder even the smallest of things. Though this doesn't mean we shouldn't try to see what it is, especially since we live in it after all. Trying to see where we are and why we're there helps provide context to understanding ourselves and the others around us. My hope is that through understanding of ourselves, we can better understand [[The Universe]].
# The Goal
Through these explorations, I hope that a pattern of applying ideas to the world around us begins to appear. It may be that all of my concepts are incorrect, but the method on how I apply these concepts to living may prove useful in some way. So not only do I wish to apply the concepts that I have found, but explore how any abstract concept could be applied to the wider world to help us live a better life.
I wish for us all to live in a world that is better than it is today. I recognize that the only way to do that is for each of us to strive to build that world as no one else can build it for us. There might not be a great deal of control any of us have on much of our world, but I believe that through understanding and small choices we can all impact things around us.
So let's all try to impact this world around us and each other for the better. I welcome feedback and constructive critique, as well as new ideas and new sources. Please feel free to engage in the following ways:
